All-Media, Transmedia, Multiplatform, Multimedia. It’s all now just called ‘Digital’. As far back as 1999 (only 4 years after the internet came in to being for the public) we started delivering stories across different media, different platforms, to different audiences. In fact, we got so excited about the whole idea that we ended up at the forefront of all-media storytelling and have remained so ever since.
Below are two videos that summarise what we delivered for SCORCHED and STORM SURFERS 3D. Both were ground-breaking projects.
Delivered in 2008, SCORCHED is a ‘What If’ drama set in the near future. After 240 days without rain, Sydney has only two weeks of water supply left. As a state of emergency is declared when a ring of bushfires erupts around the city, a reporter uncovers a conspiracy behind the water crisis. This 7min video provides a detailed insight into how SCORCHED was delivered across multiple platforms.
A major prime time telemovie for Nine Network had a story-world wrapped around it that began 12 weeks before the broadcast with a web series, an entire news network broadcasting news reports, government and private sector websites and an extensive marketing campaign that all pointed toward the conspiracy behind the disaster that would unfold as Sydney was engulfed by bushfires. The web series had over 1.5m views and the telemovie had an audience of 1.2m viewers.
The project was a groundbreaking all-media drama that went on to win numerous awards including an International Digital Emmy® Award - Best Drama in 2009.
STORM SURFERS is the largest scale all-media documentary project ever in Australia. Delivered as a 3D theatrical feature documentary enjoying a 100 screen release in multi-flex cinemas and a 4 X 1hr series for Discover Network. Wrapped around the primary properties was the digital media campaign that included a mobile phone game, a 30 X 3min web series and interactive e-book.
This 7min video provides insight into how STORM SURFERS was delivered. The project went on to win a slew of awards including the AACTA Award for Best Feature Documentary.
The digital roll-out was recognised by Screen Producers Australia with the award for Best Documentary - Multi-platform.
